The
pilot intervention focuses on enhancing opportunities for physical activity
and healthy food choices for children 2 to 5 years of age participating
in the WIC Program and in child care.

Change
NC-HWI will conduct formative research into potential policy changes
within the WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants,
and Children) Program and CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program). These
changes may affect the food package, nutrition education and physical
activity education within these programs.
Environmental
Change
NC-HWI in partnership with the UNC Center for Health Promotion Disease
Prevention, will develop and evaluate a rating scale for child care centers
that addresses healthy foods, physical activity and physical inactivity.

Color Me
Healthy*, a curriculum developed by the NC Cooperative Extension
Service and Eat Smart, Move More...North Carolina will be used to teach
child care providers, children, and their families about healthy food
choices and physical activity.
